thecontractor.app (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the thecontractor.app mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Business Information: Company name, phone number, license number, and business type.
- Customer Data: Names, emails, phone numbers, and addresses of your customers that you enter into the app.
- Financial Data: Quote amounts, invoice totals, expense amounts, and payment status. We do not process or store credit card numbers — payments are handled by Stripe.
- Photos: Job site photos you upload through the camera or photo library.
- Location Data: GPS coordinates when you clock in to a job (only with your permission).
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the app's functionality
- To send quotes, invoices, and notifications to your customers on your behalf
- To track time and location for job management
- To send you push notifications about your business activity
- To improve the app and fix bugs
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database and authentication
- Stripe: Payment processing (for invoice payments)
- Resend: Email delivery (for sending quotes and invoices)
- Expo: Push notifications
- Google Gemini (AI): AI Assistant functionality (see AI Assistant section below)
- RevenueCat: In-app subscription management
AI Assistant & Data Sharing
The app includes an AI Assistant feature powered by Google Gemini. When you use the AI Assistant:
- What data is sent: The messages you type and relevant business context (such as customer names, quote details, job information, and invoice data) are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate responses.
- Who receives the data: Your messages are processed by Google LLC through their Gemini AI API.
- How data is used: Google processes your data solely to generate AI responses. Your data is not used for advertising, model training, or any purpose other than providing the AI Assistant service.
- Data retention: Messages are not stored by Google beyond the duration of the conversation session.
- Your consent: The app asks for your explicit permission before sending any data to the AI service. You can choose not to use the AI Assistant feature.
We do not send photos, location data, or payment information to the AI service. Only text messages and business context necessary to fulfill your request are shared.
Camera & Photo Library
The app requests access to your camera and photo library to upload job site photos and receipt images. Photos are stored securely and are only accessible to members of your organization.
Location Services
The app requests foreground location access for GPS clock-in functionality. Location is only captured at the moment you clock in to a job. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
Push Notifications
We send push notifications for business events such as new booking requests, quote approvals, and invoice payments. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data (CSV export is built into the app)
- Withdraw consent for location tracking or notifications
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the “Last updated” date.
